Job Shadow Reflection
I chose to job shadow a librarian because I was really interested in in this line of work. Her name was Joanie Wollenman and she was a very kind librarian. I interviewed her on February 18, 2015 at 9:54 a.m. I watched her do her job to get a better image of how being a librarian is like, I also helped her organize her library and arranged books. The job shadow took place at Washington Elementary, in the city of Lindsay.
During my day of job shadowing, I did many things. One task I did was to organize the books in her library; some were by alphabetical order, while others had a numerical system of order. I also helped her entertain the kids as they came by her library to learn the fundamentals of reading. I also asked her question at the end of the job shadow to know how it feels to be a librarian; I asked a total of 10 questions to her.
I learned that being a librarian takes a lot of patience and they need to be kind to all book readers. I liked how she never got mad or annoyed at any of the children even if some of them were uncooperative at times with her and how she always entertained the kids. There was nothing I disliked about the job shadow. She was perfect as a librarian for elementary school kids and if I become one, I would like to be as kind as her.
I am still interested in this job, but it might not be what I choose in the future. I am still interested in this job; because I love to read books and I want to show others how fun it could be to read. I am not that interested in this kind of job, because I would like a job with a bit more excitement and with a bit more with tasks to do.
